Wanderlight

Look up from your phone.

Wanderlight is a narrated walking guide for curious travellers — the story of the thing you're standing in front of, in your ears instead of on a screen.

Built for actually being there

Guides are made for the street, not the sofa — which mostly means staying out of your way.

Works without signal

Download a city over wi-fi before you leave. Every guide plays in full on aeroplane mode, in a basement, or on foreign roaming you'd rather not pay for.

Keeps playing, screen off

Put the phone in your pocket and keep walking. Play, pause and skip from the lock screen or your headphones.

Notices what's near you

An optional list of landmarks within about a kilometre, so you find the things you didn't know to look for. Decline the permission and everything else still works.

No account, ever

No sign-up, no email, no password to forget. Open the app and press play.

Written before it was narrated

The reason a stop runs eleven or twenty-six minutes rather than ninety seconds.

A dossier per landmark

Earliest history, construction, architecture, archaeology, the myths and what is actually known — researched and written out in full before a word is narrated.

Every claim rated

Each fact carries how confident the research is, and the sources are listed. Where something is only a story, the guide says so instead of repeating it as fact.

Six to twenty-six minutes

Twenty-five landmarks across three cities, and about five and a half hours of narration. Long enough to actually explain something.

Quietly private

Not a policy written to be tolerated — a description of an app that genuinely doesn't watch you.

There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no crash-reporting SDK in Wanderlight. There is no account, so there is nothing to attach data to.

If you allow location access, your coordinates are compared against the landmark list on your device and never transmitted — not to us, not to anyone.
